Measurement cookies only if you say yes
shuntapp.com asks once whether it may count your visit with Google Analytics and measure whether an ad in ChatGPT led to a download or a purchase. Until you accept, it sets no cookies and loads no measurement script.
Verifiable, not just claimed. Open your browser's developer tools on any page of this site before answering the banner and look at Storage and Network. There are no cookies and no request to Google or OpenAI. Your answer is kept in one local storage entry, shunt-analytics-consent, so the banner does not ask again.

With them, Google Analytics records which pages are viewed, how the visitor arrived (a search, a link, an ad), the approximate country and city derived from the IP address, and the browser and device type. Google signals and ad personalisation are switched off, so these visits are not joined to Google accounts or used to build advertising profiles. What we see is aggregate reports in the Google Analytics dashboard. Google processes the data under Google's privacy policy.
The OpenAI Measurement Pixel tells OpenAI when you view the pricing page, click Buy, click Download or reach the thank-you page after paying, so we can see whether our ads in ChatGPT work. It sends the event, the page address and the two identifiers above. It does not send your name, your email address or your payment details, which never reach this site. OpenAI processes the data under its Conversion Terms and privacy policy.
If you decline, nothing is loaded from Google or OpenAI and no cookie is set. If you change your mind later with the button above, these cookies are deleted from this site.
What this site does not use
- No retargeting: nothing on this site builds an audience to follow you with ads elsewhere.
- No social media embeds, so no cookies from a social network either.
- No third-party fonts. The typefaces are the ones already on your device.
- No A/B testing, session recording, heatmaps or chat widget.
- No login, so no session or authentication cookie.
The moving graphics on the home page are drawn by your own browser with WebGL. They send nothing anywhere and store nothing.
The one technical exception
This site is served through Cloudflare. If Cloudflare's bot protection ever challenges a request it considers suspicious, it may set a short-lived cookie of its own, usually named __cf_bm, purely to remember that the challenge was passed. It carries no identifier of you, is not readable by us, is not used for analytics or advertising, and expires within about half an hour. It is a strictly necessary security cookie under the usual definitions, which is why no consent prompt is required for it.
Server logs are not cookies
Cloudflare keeps standard server logs for delivering and protecting the site, which include IP addresses and are retained for a short period on their systems. That happens at the network level, not in your browser, and it is not something a cookie banner would cover. It is described on the privacy page.
If you buy Shunt
Checkout is hosted by Polar, the Merchant of Record for the sale, on Polar's own domain. Once you leave this site for the checkout, Polar's cookie policy applies to that page, not this one, and they do need cookies to run a payment session. Nothing about that payment writes a cookie back onto shuntapp.com.
The app is separate from this site
Shunt itself is a macOS app, not a web page, so cookies do not apply to it, and the analytics on this site never reach it. It keeps your routing rules in a plain JSON file on your own disk and sends no browsing data anywhere. Apart from the licence requests to Polar described there, the only request the app makes on its own is a once-a-day check for a newer version. The detail is on the privacy page.
Changes
If this site ever sets another cookie, this page is updated before that happens and will name the cookie, say what it is for and how long it lasts. Questions go to support@shuntapp.com.
